inSYNC’s Top 5 Artists of 2015

Jamie XX

London producer Jamie XX this year emerged from band The XX to become one of the UK’s most influential and popular solo artists. His unique style of electronica and future garage has propelled his album ‘In Colour’, which was released in May, into the spotlight.

inSYNC has proudly seen Jamie XX three times now, and has proven every time what an incredible artist he really is. He packed out NME stage at Reading this year, made Bestival’s Big Top spill out of the walls, and showed off his mixing skills whilst the sun was setting beautifully at Glastonbury’s Park stage. Moving into 2016 his show at Alexandra Palace in February sold out in minutes, and gives his audience something magical and unforgettable to go home with. If you haven’t seen Jamie XX then you need to!

Foals

Oxford five-piece have always had a big cult following, and their crowd has only got bigger and bigger. The indie band released their fourth studio album in August ‘What Went Down’, which peaked at Number 3 in the UK album chart.

We saw Foals’ secret set at Reading in the summer, and it was an incredible performance showing off some of their classics as well as two songs from the new album. Their secret set was in Reading’s NME tent and it was packed to the roof. As always Foals have their energetic performance. We were lucky enough to go to Foals’ UK tour at Southampton’s O2 Guildhall, and when you don’t think they’ll get any better Yannis and crew always deliver. Foals are playing at Wembley Arena in February to a sold out venue. Can they only get better than 2015?

Caravan Palace

You may not of heard of Caravan Palace, but they’re one of the world’s best electro-swing bands. Hailing from France, the band released their third studio album at the end of 2015. The band aren’t what you’d find at mainstream festivals but do do the European circuit quite regularly.

At inSYNC’s first visit to Boomtown Fair last summer we had the chance to see Caravan Palace headline The Town Stage. Electro-swing is the feel good genre, and the band’s performance was so energetic. You can only be happy when listening to Caravan Palace, and we hope we can see them again in 2016.

The Maccabees

2015 saw London’s The Maccabees release their Number 1 album ‘Marks To Prove It’. This is the five-piece’s fourth album, which has sent the band rocketing into the spotlight. The Maccabees had a colourful 2015 playing many festivals as well as completing a UK tour.

Like Foals, inSYNC has managed to get a glimpse of Orlando and co three times in 2015. The Maccabees played at Glastonbury’s Other Stage, on Reading’s Main Stage, and at Southampton’s O2 Guildhall, each time putting on a special performance. The group’s humble aurora comes across on stage, and makes the band something special. If you haven’t seen The Maccabees then you’re missing out!

Slaves

We first saw Slaves at Reading 2014, when they weren’t as well known. 2015 changed all that, though, when the Kent grunge duo released their debut album ‘Are You Satisfied?’, which peaked at Number 8 in the UK album chart. Slaves have received a lot of radio airtime, as well as a lot of support from BBC Radio 1, which has helped them progress in their musical career.

Slaves have performed an impressive amount of live shows this year with inSYNC seeing them at Glastonbury, Standon Calling, at Reading’s NME stage and at Bestival’s Big Top. Not to mention their UK tour. Slaves make a lot of noise for just the two of them, and bounce well off of each other. Their stage presence is second to none and it’s clear that the pair have known each other and performed together for a very long time. Get with the Slaves hype.
