Just Jack 11th Birthday at Motion, Bristol

For their 11th Birthday, promoters Just Jack were back at Bristol’s Motion for the first time since they hosted the Toilet Party for the In:Motion Series New Year’s Day bonanza. The Toilet Party so brilliantly played host to Jethro, Tom Rio & Dan Wild and Jeremy Underground, who stole the show.

This time, hailing from Detroit, Robert Hood was making his long overdue Bristol debut. I can safely say that the wait was worthwhile and I’m sure many will agree that it was one of the best sets Motion has ever seen. From start to finish, Hood entertained onlookers and provided a seamless set. Within two songs he dropped crowd favourite ‘Never Grow Old Re-Plant’, which was one of the best moments we’ve personally had in Motion. Throughout the two-hour set, Robert Hood played other a mix of his own productions like ‘Tell You No Lie’  and ‘Clouds – Chained To A Dead Camel’ with some other classic tracks too. We still haven’t got over this masterpiece of a set and people will sure be talking about it for a long time!

Another highlight of the night was the set played by Optimo in the Marble Factory. Combining many genres and a vast selection of tracks, the crowd certainly got what they paid for. A personal favourite track of mine by Tessela entitled ‘Hackney Parrot’ got a great reception from the crowd, as did Optimo’s intense mixing skills and crashing synths.

Closing proceedings in the Marble Factory was acclaimed DJ and Mix Mag Track of the Year Winner Midland. With the Just Jack decorations set up in the Marble Factory and Midland’s talented ability to mix together techno, disco and house this created another impeccable set; one of the very best Motion has ever seen. To top it all off, he ended on his suitably named Track of the Year ‘Final Credits’. Haven’t seen Midland yet? Well, don’t miss out on the opportunity!

As you can probably tell, this was a truly amazing night and would strongly recommend that if you get a chance to see these artists,  you grab it with both hands! Just Jack continues to deliver and we’re looking forward to seeing what the promoters have planned for the future.
