inSYNC’s Weekly Top Announcement Picks (January 30th 2017)

It has been a mad week of headliners and lineup announcements. 2017 is going to be another massive year for the UK festival marathon. This week London festivals Citadel and Field Day gave us a headliner and more of the lineup, whilst Reading & Leeds, We Are FSTVL, Lost Village, Love Saves The Day and NASS Festival all showed off their 2017 artists.

Citadel

Launched in 2015, Citadel is London’s brightest new festival. The one-day affair takes place in the capital’s Victoria Park, combining a thrilling musical lineup with the best of London’s artistic creativity. 2015 saw spellbinding sets from Ben Howard and Bombay Bicycle Club achieving a success that has changed London’s festival landscape. 2016 played host to Icelandic favourites Sigur Ros, and now the festival is looking to continue its growth and popularity.

Last week, Citadel announced that its 2017 headliner will be indie five-piece Foals, on a UK festival exclusive set. This is the band’s first festival slot since co-headlining Reading & Leeds in August. Take your chance, because this will be one of the last chances to see Foals in the UK before they go away to write more new music.

Originally a rock music festival, Reading & Leeds has opened its doors to a vast array of musical genres including grime, rap, house, EDM and bassline. The 2016 festival had a record capacity of 90,000 and still sold out way in advance.

This week Reading boasted their second wave of artists and second headliner for this year’s festival. English rock band Kasabian will headline alongside Muse. Also joining the festival’s bill is Irish indie band Two Door Cinema Club, Australian producer Flume and British dance music legend Fatboy Slim among others.
