inSYNC’s ‘Needed’ Track of the Week: ‘I Give You Power’ by Arcade Fire

After being announced for a number of dates in Europe and given the Saturday headline slot at Isle of Wight Festival, Canadian six-piece indie band Arcade Fire have released a new song. It’s the first new music from the band since the release of their Number 1 2013 album ‘Reflektor’. There’s nothing to suggest that this new single will be included in any upcoming albums, but one has to wonder as band member Tim Kingsbury told CBC that the band will have a new album out later this year.

The new song features American singer and civil rights activist Mavis Staples and is much more electronic in sound than what we are used to from the group. The song was released last week to coincide with Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration and all money raised from the song is going to the American Civil Liberties Union. Lyrically the new song is somewhat repetitive, but its electro beat and minimalistic melody makes it very catchy.
