Review: elrow in London

Festival spirit descended upon London’s Olympic Park as Spanish party starters elrow bought El Rowcio to the capital. With the Saturday line-up boasting The 2 Bears, Jamie Jones and Jasper James it really hammered home the party atmosphere.

Announced back in March, Juan Arnau, elrow’s founder said ‘get ready for the next level of elrow, where you will take the starring role at the show’. Spread across three stages, eighteen acts treated the crowd of 15,000 party goers to ten hours of house, techno and electronic happiness.

As expected from elrow the venue was as impressive as the acts, with Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park being transformed with a three-storey main-stage, market stalls and nearly more inflatables than people. elrow’s colourful parties have become some of the best in the world for those passionate about dance music.

Highlights of Saturday unsurprisingly included Jamie Jones’ closing set, which rounded off the day with a headline set that will not be forgotten. I also have to mention De La Soul, who made a change from their usual hip-hop vibes to bring a funky DJ set to El Rowcio.

With the Saturday selling out in under four hours and the Sunday selling out also, we wouldn’t be surprised to see elrow return to the capital for another party very soon.
