inSYNC Unsigned: Jacob Holroyd

It’s honestly all in the name of the song. Reading-born Jacob Holroyd has us wrapped up in his daydreams with his third single that transports us through the wires and melodies of his mind. Hot off the back from Jacobs re-recording of his track, ‘Gold Strings’, that debuted in the midst of this summer’s heatwave, the smooth jazz-esque ballad, ‘Daydream’ is the next instalment of romanticism that we’re so used to from Jacob. “Lost in the moment, I reside with you”, this record will certainly have everyone wanting this infatuation to be about them. We could easily see his three tracks being part of an indie-cult classic film soundtrack, watch out Alex Turner, Jacob could override ‘Submarine’ soon.

The single, which was recorded at Hoxa HQ in London in September, joined together a multitude of talent on one record. Jacob took to the help of long-term friends to help make this love-struck melancholy a work of art. The track has been Produced by Chris Alderton, who for anyone who knows anybody, is one of the puzzle pieces that make-up yet another Reading-born success story, The Amazons. It’s not Jacob’s first encounter with fellow Reading-royalty either, he was there from day one. We’ve been swaying to Jacob’s heavenly vocals for a number of years across venues over the UK both as an individual artist and as frontman of the band Haize. The band supported numerous dates with The Amazons at the start of their breakthrough with performances at the Oakford Social Club in Reading and The Hope and Ruin in Brighton. The familiar faces didn’t stop there on this record. Jacob’s former guitarist from Haize and best pal, Ben Cornelius took to the drums to make this track crisp. If anyone knows how to work well together, it’s certainly those two.

So, what’s next for Jacob? Of course, he’ll be relentlessly touring more venues across the UK including more in Sheffield and his hometown, Reading. After already receiving airplay from BBC Introducing Berkshire, and an EP in the making, we can only expect to hear more serenading from this Reading not-so-newcomer. For the time being, check out the link down below and give this boy all the love he deserves.

‘Daydream’ by Jacob Holroyd is out now on all streaming platforms including Spotify.
