Sporting Glastonbury: Bournemouth 7’s Returns
In less than two weeks time, Europe’s biggest music and sports festival will be opening its gates for the 9th time. Over 30,000 people attend the event from Friday 27th to Sunday the 29th of May.
This year over 5000 players will compete in a range of ‘social and competitive tournaments’ in Rugby, Netball, Dodgeball and Hockey. Skill levels range from complete novices to some of the best national touring sides – which includes national stars.
However, 7’s is not just about the sport. There are 10 festive themed ‘Festival Arenas’ and live music acts. This year, US hip-hop star, Fatman Scoop is topping the line up alongside Cocoloco DJ’s – last year the Cocoloco stage certainly had an impressive sound and lighting set up – so definitely worth a visit.
This years sees the launch of a new ‘family day’ on the Sunday which will involve bringing together various local companies and partners, including AFC Bournemouth’s Junior Cherries.
The organisers are also keen to remind fans it’s an Olympic year and as 7’s is famous for its elaborate costumes, the fancy dress theme will be Olympics vs Carnival. We’re sure this’ll make for some interesting outfits.
Tickets are available at bournemouth7s.com where limited weekend, camping, family and day tickets are still available.
