inSYNC’s ‘Needed’ Track of the Week: ‘Wide Awake’ by Parquet Courts

US indie rock outfit Parquet Courts have popped up with their sixth studio album, just two short years since their previous record. It’s the band’s third release on UK based label Rough Trade, which has seen the band increasingly improve in the European market. ‘Wide Awake!’ is set to be released at the end of next week after three singles already shared with fans. Expectations for the new record are high in regards to its UK Album Chart performance.

Our ‘Needed’ track of the week is the album’s title track, which the band released on March 8th. The fast pace drum beat and cowbell coupled with an infectious bassline gives the band’s sound a new found groove. The added whistles and background sounds give the song a carnival vibe, which helps you move your feet. Two simple guitar melodies overlay the track making it arguably one of the band’s most catchy tracks to date. This is certainly a different direction for Parquet Courts. But, it’s good! Hopefully, it’ll form the foundation of what is to come from the Texas group.
