Isle of Wight Festival Announce More Acts
2016 is set to be a big year for the UK’s oldest festival. Isle of Wight, taking place at Seaclose Park from 9th to 12th June have already announced some mind-blowing acts. Legends Queen will close this year’s festival, with new singer Adam Lambert. Welsh rock band Stereophonics and electronic music trio Faithless will also perform. Iggy Pop, Twin Atlantic, Busted, Jess Glynne, Sigma and The Corrs are to name just a few that will also perform. The Isle of Wight festival is always the first major festival of the year, and always sets the bar high for what is to come in the summer-long British festival marathon.
This year will be no exception. The island festival has now added five awesome acts to the already exciting lineup. Indie brothers The Cribs, rock’n’roll duo The Kills, Britpop alumni Ocean Colour Scene, legendary rock band Status Quo and Isle of Wight favourite Mike & The Mechanics will all make appearances over the weekend.
The Cribs released their sixth studio album last March, and will be bringing their energetic brand of indie rock to the island. Their latest album ‘For All My Sisters’ peaked at Number Nine in the UK album chart, and were in their 10th anniversary year were honoured with the ‘Spirit of Independence’ award at the Q Awards. They were also granted the ‘Outstanding Contribution to Music’ award at the the annual NME Awards. We can’t wait to the see The Cribs again; rocking the Isle of Wight Festival 2016.
Comprised of Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince, The Kills have been described as rock’n’roll’ best kept secret. Together the duo have release four studio albums, including the critically acclaimed 2011 ‘Blood Pressures’, which reached the Top 40 in both the United States and the United Kingdom. The Kills will be playing some big shows this year including America’s biggest festival Coachella, which aligns them perfectly for an appearance at Isle of Wight.
Ocean Colour Scene will make their first Isle of Wight appearance since 2010. Following a sold out tour in January to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the band’s ‘Moseley Shoals’ album, Ocean Colour Scene will be performing the entire album in its entirety. ‘Moseley Shoals’ is just one of three of the band’s albums that made it into the top five of the UK album charts, and was a contributor to the group’s nine successive top twenty hit singles.
Status Quo are one of Britain’s most loved rock bands. The group will be performing classic hits such as ‘Whatever You Want’ and ‘Down Down’ in a special performance which will be one of the last opportunities to see the band following a recent announcement that at the end of the year they’ll be hanging up the electric guitars for good. Don’t miss out on this opportunity!
Mike & The Mechanics, Isle of Wight Festival veterans, will once again be entertaining crowds with their favourite hits ‘Over My Shoulder’, ‘All I Need Is A Miracle’ and many more. Mike Rutherford, Genesis founding member, will be joined by one the UK’s most prolific R&B singers Andrew Rochford, and also Tim Howar, who have previously toured with the likes of Rod Stewart and Paulo Nutini to name just two. We’re looking forward to their exciting show ahead.
