inSYNC’s Weekly Festival News (March 27th 2017)

As summer draws ever closer and the evenings getting lighter, we all wait in anticipation for this year’s marathon of festivals. This week, exciting lineups from Bestival and Boomtown, as well as a small announcement from London day festival Eastern Electrics.

Bestival

After thirteen successful years at Robin Hill Country Park on the Isle of Wight, Bestival curator Rob da Bank announced that the four-day festival will indeed move to the Lulworth Estate in Dorset. Rob da Bank and the Bestival team told fans of the festival that it would move to the same site as family-orientated sister festival Camp Bestival.

The festival has now tastefully broken down its eclectic lineup into a stage-by-stage lineup. Bestival’s five main stages at their new site will replicate those in previous years but with new production and art installations. The infamous Temple Island and Bollywood stages are present with the new Castle Stage becoming the festival’s main stage. New stages The Box and Reggae Roots form the remaining stages. The xx, A Tribe Called Quest and Pet Shop Boys will headline this year’s event.

Boomtown Fair

Boomtown truly is one of the UK’s festival wonders. It’s a non-commercial masterpiece of arts, culture and music, and fully immerses every one of its so-called ‘citizens’ in its indescribable experiences. The festival has ballooned to a staggering 60,000 since Boomtown’s streets first opened in 2009. Boomtown Fairs’ mind-blowing creative landscape is utterly diverse, eclectic and simply inspiring. If all festivals took on Boomtown’s wild, weird and entertaining approach to their creative installations then the world would be a better place. And, if you throw in the festival’s fictional yet real-esque backstory, which develops with each passing year, then you’re in for one hell of an experience.

Boomtown’s newest district, Sector-6, which was added last year has now revealed its 2017 lineup. Jungle kingpin Shy FX and BBC Radio 1 DJ Toddla T will headline the district with S.P.Y, The Prototypes, Sir Spyro, Rockwell and more all joining the dnb/jungle heavy bill. With even more announcements to come, Boomtown is shaping up to be another incredible year.

Eastern Electrics

Escaping the busy streets of Central London, Eastern Electrics is set in the beautiful grounds of Hatfield House in Hertfordshire. Only 25 minutes away from the capital, house music lovers and festival goers alike are in for a treat. Eastern Electrics is quickly establishing itself as one of the summer’s hottest dance music events. Past big name DJs like Seth Troxler, Skream and The Martinez Brothers have all made appearances.

The festival are so far holding fire on the 2017 lineup, but the festival’s eight stages will be hosted by some of the best music curators in Britain. Knee Deep In Sound, Viva Warriors, the return of Skreamizm, Rinse FM, Defected, Star of EE, and more will all host stages at this year’s event. Stand by for another exciting announcement.
