Gottwood Festival Incoming
The weekend of June 7th marks the end of exams and the start of Gottwood Festival. With festival season beginning to hit full swing, Gottwood has become a priority for any underground electronic music fan. Not too mention the people who want to escape the mainstream festival circuit to experience a truly authentic, intimate and critically acclaimed independent festival.
Set in the enchanted woodland of Carreglwyd Forest in the Isle of Anglesey – Northwest Wales – revellers who make the effort with the journey will not be disappointed. Created in 2010 and now in its ninth year, Gottwood has gone from strength to strength solidifying itself as one of the best small festivals in the UK. Voted in the top ten UK festivals by TimeOut magazine and Resident Adviser it is clear to see that Gottwood is a must this year. Although Gottwood has continuously grown in popularity and gathered a scintillating reputation the festival has stuck to its core values. Sticking to the 5000 capacity means it can maintain its intimate and inclusive vibe. There’s more emphasis on the whole experience for festival goers. Additionally, the small capacity creates a sense of community. People just out to have a good time, something that can be missing at larger festivals.
Although small in nature, Gottwood boasts a considerable lineup with the likes of Ben UFO, Avalon Emerson, Axel Boman, Craig Richards, Jackmaster and Domink Eulberg gracing the festival this year. Listen to the official Soundcloud playlist here to get accustomed to the electronic dance music atmosphere. Another aspect of the Gottwood lineup that should be admired is the emphasis placed on supporting local and emerging talent. This means that festival goers will stumble across new artists and new music while exploring the mythical woodland where the festival is situated. Again, adding to the whole Gottwood experience.
What sets Gottwood above the rest is the focus and attention to detail of the decoration and art within the festival, which adds to the experience of the festival goers. Various weird and wonderful stages are scattered around the woods accompanied with wonderfully intense laser shows. You would be doing yourself an injustice if you missed this one-off spectacle this year.
Be warned though, tickets have been selling quickly and thus have sold out. However, if you act fast Gottwood have just released a final tier resale with a percentage of the proceeds going to charity. So, avoid disappointment and grab a last-minute ticket now.
