Concrete Music Presents DJ Q at The Astoria, Portsmouth

Portsmouth’s best underground music event organiser Concrete returned to The Astoria for the new academic year in their usually Thursday night slot. After an incredible run of acts through the 2016/17 year, the dance music connoisseurs brought bassline king DJ Q to Portsmouth for an ‘all night’ set. It was a stellar booking to show Portsmouth freshers what a proper party is in the city.

DJ Q has been DJing since the age of twelve, making some of the UK’s most well-known bassline tracks. The Yorkshireman has more recently been collaborating with fellow bass producers Royal T and Flava D to form TQD. The trio has played some pretty high profile gigs including main stage sets at Boomtown. They have also released a debut album named ‘ukg’.

Although packed out, The Astoria made the decision to take out the large DJ both from the club’s upstairs room. This has opened up the room, giving more dancing space and putting punters right in front of the DJ. This gives the venue a more intimate feel. DJ Q played through the night playing some of the best garage and bassline tracks your ears can listen to, as well as a whole host of new and exciting tunes. The club’s lights and lasers only helped ensure that DJ Q’s enduring set kept onlookers on a level.

Concrete went all out on making The Astoria look the part with the inclusion of Concrete signs reinforcing the brand; it was a night that ensured the term started with a bang. We can’t wait to see who Concrete will treat us to on Thursdays in the next few months. For more info and to see upcoming lineups visit www.concrete-music.co.uk
