Blossoms at The Portsmouth Guildhall

The backend of 2024 saw Stockport indie favourites Blossoms embark on their ‘Gary’ album tour, delivering a captivating performance at Portsmouth’s iconic Guildhall in November.

Opening with the fan-favorite ‘Your Girlfriend’, the five-piece immediately set the tone for the night. Their setlist was a well-balanced mix of beloved classics from their first record and fresh material from their latest album. Standout moments included ‘I Can’t Stand It’, ‘Honey Sweet’, and the heartfelt ‘The Keeper’, each performed with the effortless charm and tight musicianship that have become the band’s trademark since their inception.

As the main set wrapped up with ‘At Most a Kiss’, the crowd’s cheers left no doubt that an encore was inevitable. The band returned to the stage to deliver an emotional rendition of ‘My Favourite Room’ before launching into the anthemic title track of the latest record and tour. Of course, no Blossoms gig would be complete without debut hit ‘Charlemagne’ which sent the Portsmouth audience into a euphoric singalong to close out the night.

Blossoms’ performance was a testament to their decade of growth as a band and confidence as live musicians. Their ability to seamlessly blend slick, synth-driven indie pop with a warm, engaging stage presence made for an unforgettable night. With each tour, they continue to solidify their status as one of the United Kingdom’s most beloved modern indie bands. Even this new album has left fans eager for whatever comes next.
