Glass Animals Back on UK Tour!
The Oxfordshire four-piece released their third studio album, ‘Dreamland’, midway through the pandemic in August of last year. Without the ability to tour, Glass Animals are catching up with lost time by finally showcasing their new music live. The release of the band’s main single from the record, ‘Heat Waves’, has propelled them into the indie pop stratosphere being one of the biggest and most popular tracks the band has released to date. This was emphasised by the group’s choice to make the track the very last in their setlist on this tour. After a turbulent couple of year for Glass Animals with tours cancelled due to the Covid pandemic and also because of drummer Joe Seaward’s accident it was great to see the group back in full swing bringing just as much energy to their live shows as they always have.
Despite this being the ‘Dreamland’ tour the album’s title track and lead single was not featured in the set, but the majority of the new record was included. Selected tracks from the band’s first two studio records were also included as well a composition change for ‘Black Mambo’, which craftily slid into ‘Hot Sugar’, one the songs from the new album. Glass Animals have always been good at mixing up their live sounds and not making you think you’re just listing to their album on speakers at home. There were new renditions and additions to tracks all over the set with a particular exciting highlight being the group’s extended instrumental in ‘Pork Soda’, which completed the setlist before the band came back on stage for a two-track encore which included of course ‘Heat Waves’ and also ‘Tokyo Drifting’ without the rap verse by Denzel Curry.
After they have performed ‘Dreamland’ to the world, we can’t wait for what’s in store next for the band. Another record as strong as the last with the second-to-none live performances to back it up will progress this talented group even further in their musical careers. Haven’t seen Glass Animals yet? Don’t even wait. You won’t find another group like this on earth.
