Preview: Love Saves The Day

It is that time of year again when Bristol’s biggest and favourite festival returns to Eastville Park. Running on the 25th-26th of May, it marks the end of exam period, and will provide the perfect celebration for the students of Bristol and beyond. Growing year on year, with more intricate and visually impressive stage design. The organisers still haven’t abandoned their roots of supporting underground music, spanning a variety of genres from DnB, house, techno and hip hop, whilst still investing in established acts that can entertain a crowd at any festival. Love Saves The Day are also teaming up with labels and promoters including; THE BLAST, RUN, CRACK, Futureboogie, and Artwork presents ART’S HOUSE, who will bring their distinctive sound to their own curated stages.

The main stage lineup on Saturday does not disappoint with the likes of Shy FX and Maribou State warming the crowd up throughout the day. The headline slot belongs to the one and only Lilly Allen. On her return to Bristol the crowd will be treated to a number of classics that will get the crowd feeling nostalgic. If the main stage doesn’t grab the attention, there is a staggering nine other stages to choose from. Centre stage hosts a selection of RUN DJ’s bringing you DnB all day long. The standout names being, Sub Focus, DJ Hype and Danny Byrd. While the Lost Garden, curated by Artwork, includes two separate sets from the man himself as well as Gideön and Hourse Meat Disco. The headline spot on the Brouhaha Stage belongs to Palm Trax and is one that shouldn’t be missed. Tech House heavyweights Solardo and Camelphat have slots during the day at the Lonley Hearts Club stage.

Moving through to Sunday the lineup doesn’t let up. With the unrivalled Chase and Status occupying the main stage headline spot, which could surely pull the biggest crowd of the weekend. A favourite with the Bristol crowd; their numerous headline shows as part of the In:Motion series over the years. Congo Natty, Octavian and Ocean Wisdom also play the main stage throughout the day. Sunday provides a more techno heavy lineup on the Centre Stage with Denis Sulta curating. With the likes of Midland, HAAi, and Mella Dee joining him. The Paradiso stage also has a star-studded lineup of DJ’s including DJ Seinfeld, Peggy Gou and the headline spot occupied by Bonobo.

Love Saves the Day marks the start of summer in Bristol, so lets pray for sunshine. No matter what LSTD is a festival that should not be missed, celebrating Bristol’s rich cultural heritage and contribution to music. This is demonstrated in the amount of variety of underground music in the lineup. What better way is there to spend the late May bank holiday weekend.
