Boomtown 2019: What You Can Expect From Chapter 11

Boomtown Fair has ballooned to a very impressive 66,000 capacity, now making it the largest event in Hampshire and one of the largest in the country. Only on the mad streets of a field in Winchester will you see costumed cowboys and pirates that lure you into hidden parties, narrow passageways and themed rooms. The whole place is a make-believe town built with so much attention to detail it may as well be Disneyland for adults. Mayoral elections, passports, political statements and a historic backstory all help to currently make Boomtown one of the best festivals on offer in Europe.

Boomtown runs on the tried and tested blueprint where public interaction, immersive experience and entertainment takes precedent over super massive headline artists. A decade in the making, the event has given music lovers and festival enthusiasts something truly amazing with its mesmerising productions, stages, street venues and a lineup that covers an incredible range of niche musical genres and the arts. Boomtown has continually offered an experience which has the potential to change your outlook on a multitude of subjects, whilst immersing you in a dreamlike world of creative arts, production, theatre and music. This helps to now make it one of the world’s leading events in the festival industry. If you’re lucky enough to have a ticket to this year’s event, here’s three things you cannot miss out on.

AREA 404

Boomtown will now have a staggering twelve districts, each with their own unique theme and a place in the city’s ever-evolving storyline. This year we will welcome AREA 404, a brand new post-apocalyptic world, which will host four incredible stages aptly named; Nucleus, The Grid, Fallout Disco and Acid Leak. AREA 404’s main stage, Nucleus, will be headlined by three stalwarts of the dance music industry bringing never before seen musical genres to Boomtown. Techno kingpin Carl Cox tops the bill Saturday night with electronic producer Four Tet and Belgium techno DJ Amelie Lens taking Friday and Sunday nights retrospectively.

Ms. Lauryn Hill

Ex-Fugees member Lauryn Hill, known for her Grammy Award winning 1998 album ‘The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill’, will be taking this year’s Saturday night headline slot at Boomtown. Expect the festival’s magnificent Lion’s Den stage to full to the brim, strategically placed in one of the site’s natural amphitheatres. After arguably one of the best Boomtown headline sets in history last year performed by Gorillaz, Ms. Hill has some incredibly hard boots to fill. However, we can hope to see a hip-hop set of epic proportions.

TRIBE OF FROG

A mainstay at Boomtown for many years, Tribe of Frog has provided a woodland dwelling for ravers to dance day and night. Hosting some of the only trance and hardcore music of any festival in the UK, Tribe of Frog has not only set itself apart with the unique musical genres on offer but also with its expert productions and hard-hitting sound system. The Bristol collective will once again bring their cornucopia of colour to the Boomtown forest. Expect something special deep in the trees this summer.

There are just a few tickets still left for this year’s edition of Boomtown, which can be found at https://www.boomtownfair.co.uk/ but you’ve got to be quick. This festival will sell out. Don’t miss the opportunity to experience a marvel of the UK festival scene. The festival’s mains lineup can be found below.
