Major Lazer and The Cure to Headline Bestival

Dance three-piece Major Lazer and West Sussex Rock band The Cure have been announced as headliners for this year’s Bestival.

After releasing third album Peace is The Mission in June 2015, Major Lazer will headline Bestival for the very first time this year. The group last played the main stage of Bestival in 2014 with a slot immediately before headliners Chic feat. Nile Rodgers.

The Cure released their most recent and thirteenth album 4:13 Dream in 2008, and last played Bestival in 2011 where they played a massive 3 hour greatest hits set, of which they recorded and released as a live album later that year.

London alternative band Hot Chip, who released sixth album Why Make Sense? in May last year, will headline the Big Top on the Thursday night.

London Rock band Bastille, Sheffield New Wave band The Human League, London chart topper Katy B and London Alt-Rock band Wolf Alice will feature across the weekend.

Also announced on the heavy hitting bill are Animal Collective, Aurora, Beaty Heart, Benjamin Damage, Bicep, The Black Madonna, Bodhi presents Roots, Caravan Palace, Craig David’s TS5, Damian ‘JR. Gong’ Marley, David Rodigan MBE presents Ram Jam, Eats Everything, Eskimo Dance, Ghostpoet, Hospitality presents, Hot Chip, Jagwa Ma, Kitty, Daisy & Lewis, Krept & Konan, Kurupt FM, Loyle Carner, MØ, Petite Meller, Richie Hawtin, Ride, Shy FX’s Party On The Moon, Skepta, Skream, Slamboree, Tourist and Years & Years.

Bestival 2016 will also have a future theme, which will feature all new futuristic stages, along with music from every genre. Festival organiser Rob Da Bank said:

“So, here we go again, but this time we’re going far… far away… into the future. Prepare yourselves for a Bestival unlike any other with futuristic new stages, and as ever it’s a broad church of music from every decade and every genre”.

Last year Bestival was headlined by Missy Elliott, The Chemical Brothers, Duran Duran and Underworld.

Bestival will be held at Robin Hill Country Park near Newport, Isle of Wight between Thursday 8th and Sunday 11th September. Weekend early bird tickets are on sale now, with prices starting from £190 for adults, and £120 for teens (13-17 years of age).
