Bugged Out Weekender 2016

Bugged Out Weekender is now in its 5th year, hoists two fingers up to winter by hosting some of the best dance acts in Butlins in Bognor Regis. 2016 will be no different bringing the event’s riotous fun to the otherwise sober month of January. Bugged Out first expanded into a weekend of winter shenanigans in 2012 and has since become the most unapologetically absurd and infamously naughty event in the festival calendar.

Skream hi res

Bugged Out’s return will see a massive selection of the best names in electronic music to ensure the January blues are well and truly blown away. Hosted in a multitude of rooms Bugged Out shows off its hidden parties, treasure trails and pool parties. There’s no other event like it; conquering over dry January with day time entertainment, raving and secrets to be discovered at every turn.

2016’s instalment will show off its batch of heavyweight artists. Godfather of UK Garage DJ EZ will join the party after his 2014 Bugged Out appearance. Regulars Skream and Jackmaster will also be taking control of the decks.  Bass music pioneer Artwork will also make an appliance at next year’s event. Larger-than-life beat maker Eats Everything will bring his bass heavy underground sounds to the event, along with Heidi, fellow woman DJ Hannah Wants and Bugged Out family member Erol Alkan.

Also making the bill is tech producer George Fitzgerald, German house DJ Andhim and Belfast’s discotheque duo Bicep. BBC Radio 1 DJ B.Traits is joining the party along with her BBC colleague Toddla T. Joining the Bugged Out lineup for the first time is Chicago’s The Black Madonna, as well as Paranoid London who will be getting down with their own dirty acid-inflected selections. Deuteron is also on the bill to give a taste of Switzerland’s finest techno.

Now with less than 2 months until Bugged Out is here again, and with the lineup shaping up nicely for the weekend of raving, it would be wrong not too finish off going through the rest of the lineup. Âme (Live), DJ Koze, Groove Armada, Joy Orbison, Camera and Jonas Rathsman all join the weekend-long party.

Bugged Out prides itself on uniqueness, and that means pool parties! Butlins’ Splash World has hosted a number of incredible sets. Mike Skinner, Skream, The 2 Bears and Fatboy Slim are just a few artists that have graced the pools with unforgettable sets. 2016 will see two legendary behemoths take charge of the pool parties. Jackmaster and his ‘Tweak-a-holic’ show will keep the waves moving with a riot of house party classics, not-so-guilty pleasures, 80s mutant funk and rare 7” delights. Joining him are masters of creative reinvention and bonafide authorities on dance music Bicep, who will be bringing their ‘Hot Tub Jamez’ to the poolside.

Heading up the bill in January is Boston house king Armand Van Helden. This is the DJ’s Bugged Out debut, but following an incredible Boiler Room back-to-back with Jackmaster earlier this year, a massive 2014 being one half of Duck Sauce and 20 years experience under his belt, Armand is making a dream addition to a lineup already splitting at the sides with electronic music artists. Armand’s much lauded classics set will no doubt blow up Centre Stage.

Last but certainly not least is BBC 3’s mighty Kurupt FM will be bringing their pirate radio station to Bugged Out. The crew have had quite a year completing a second TV series of ‘People Just Do Nothing’, going on BBC Radio 1Xtra with Mistajam for a session with the one and only Craig David, and multiple Champagne Stream Rooms sold out across the UK, it should make for an extra special show. Bringing the best tunes in dnb and UK garage to January’s weekender. The biggest thing to come out of Brentford since Brentford FC.

With a total of 3 nights, 3 dance floors, pool parties, pub quiz, rave karaoke and a host of surprises, at the Weekender you’re in for a non-stop rave spectacular and plus, you’re only ever metres from your own bed! Although the notorious chalet after parties may come between you and getting some  shut eye. Bugged Out really is a winter wonderland of custom built dance floors, lasers, smoke machines and unbeatable sound quality, as well as secret parties and arcades, there is no other event like it in the festival calendar.
